Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Most standard rooms (200-600 sq ft) take 1-3 days including subfloor prep and finishing. Larger spaces or complex patterns (herringbone, borders) may take longer.
Depending on wood type, finish, layout, and site conditions, expect between $6 to $25+ per square foot for material + labor. Engineered wood tends to be at lower end; exotic woods and custom work at high end.
With prefinished hardwood, usually yes within 24 hours. For site-finished floors, we recommend waiting until stain/finish has properly cured (often 24-48+ hours) as per finish manufacturer.
Regular sweeping/vacuuming, use of hardwood-safe cleaners, avoid excess water, use felt pads under furniture, area rugs in high-traffic zones. Re-coat finish as needed.
Solid hardwood is more durable for refinishing many times over, looks elegant; engineered hardwood is more stable in humid environments, easier to install over concrete or radiant heat, often more cost-effective.

I recently hired John from Wedgewood Hardwood Floors to refinish my red oak floors, and the results are truly stunning. From the outset, John’s professionalism and expertise were apparent as he clearly explained the process and delivered exceptional craftsmanship. The floors now look brand new, with a flawless finish that beautifully highlights the red oak’s natural beauty. Three attributes particularly stood out: First, John’s communication was clear and honest, offering two options without any pressure, prioritizing my satisfaction and understanding what would yield the best results. Second, John and his team paid meticulous attention to detail, fixing a dislocated baseboard molding and filling larger voids before proceeding with the refinishing.
